If you are a true mountain bike fan then be sure not to miss the 2016 edition of the Val di Fassa Bike being held on Sunday, September 11th, in the lovely town of Moena, in the Val di Fassa, just a 10 minute drive from Passo San Pellegrino.
There are lots of champions lining up for the start. These include marathon World Champion Tiago Ferreira, the phenomenal Colombians Leonardo Paez and Jhonatan Botero Villegas, who scored a fantastic 5th place at the Rio Olympics, Russian marathon champion Alexey Medvedev, the Czech Under 23 champion Jan Vastl, Colombian Diego Alfonso Arias Cuervo, Germany’s Andreas Kleiber and the young Dane Alexander Laugesen. The Italian presence will also be quite thick, with the likes of Samuele Porro, Martino Fruet, Gerhard Kerschbaumer, Francesco Casagrande, Johnny Cattaneo, Daniele Mensi, Luca Ronchi, Adriano Caratide, Enrico Franzoi, Andrea Righettini, Vittorio Oliva, and Cristian Cominelli. Meanwhile, the women will feature Austria’s colour bearer Christina Kollman, who will try to defend the title she won last year from fierce competition by Elena Gadoni, Maria Cristina Nisi, Mara Fumagalli and Costanza Fasolis.
The race will take place on an entirely new route: 48 km of sheer thrills, with the legendary climb on Le Cune and no less than 10 km of enduro downhill. It will be a ride featuring plenty of fun stretches, where even the more technical sections, which have been added to make the challenge more compelling, can be accomplished by athletes with less training.
