|Music, nature and emotions intertwine in a unique, evocative atmosphere on Saturday, July 18th, at Passo San Pellegrino in occasion of one of the most anticipated events from the High altitude Music Festival called “I Suoni delle Dolomiti” – “Sounds of the Dolomites” . Awaiting the rising sun, Dawn on the Col Margherita will host the all new and extraordinary meeting between the American trumpeter Dave Douglas, musician Mario Brunello from Castelfranco Veneto and Cello4Ever, a cello quartet (Marco Radaelli, Andrea Cavuoto, Livia Rotondi and Andrea Scacchi) with vast and varied stylistic horizons. For this special occasion Douglas will also perform Mountain Passages, a piece he originally wrote in 2003 and dedicated to these very same Dolomites.
The concert will take place against the fantastic scenic backdrop provided from Col Margherita (2550 m) with 360° views on some of the most majestic Dolomite peaks which are a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites. In the foreground, to the southeast, the Pale di San Martino are visible from their vertical spires resembling cathedral steeples; towards the east lay the walls of the Civetta and the solitary Monte Pelmo. To the North, the chain comprising Costabella and the Monzoni dominate the foreground, leaving glimpses of the towers of the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites, and to the west on to the Latemar and the Catinaccio.
The event will start at 6:00 a .m. and will be easily accessible from Passo San Pellegrino with the Col Margherita funicular lift (special opening starting at 4: 00 a.m. ) after a short downhill walk that takes about 20 minutes. Everyone can enjoy a discounted return ticket for €9.00. Starting Tuesday, July 14th, tickets are available at the lift ticket booth or at the tourist offices in Moena (Piaz de Navalge and Perle Alpine).
In case of inclement weather the concert will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the cinema Marmolada in Canazei.
