The Passo San Pellegrino has been the chosen destination for Vincenzo Nibali’s training retreats on the Dolomites for a remarkable 10 years.
The 2016 Giro d’Italia champion is keeping the tradition alive again this summer until June 25th he will be based at the Rifugio Flora Alpina, in the district of Valfredda between Falcade and Passo San Pellegrino, to finish preparing his assault on the Tour de France.
He knows that in the Passo San Pellegrino can find the perfect terrain to train, breathe fresh air and relax in a peaceful, familiar atmosphere. Nowadays he feels like a “local” among these mountains, where everyone welcomes him with affection and sincere friendship.
“I love it here, I couldn’t ask for anything more; it’s the perfect place to prepare for a race as demanding as the Tour de France” said Nibali. “And since we’re superstitious, we are always happy to come back, because we have built a great deal of our success right here on these climbs.”
