Dairy visits: only a few more dates left to discover the secrets of high mountain farms

Monday, 16 August 2010 Dairy visits: only a few more dates left to discover the secrets of high mountain farms

The  2010 edition of this initiative is about to come to an end. It's dedicated to everyone, young and old, who wishes to spend a day surrounded by the wonders of nature and discovering one of the most traditional aspects of working mountain life.

In fact, our mountain dairies are only open in the summer season until September 10 , with “Andar per Malghe , or Dairy visits, fun and instructive excursions that combine a short hike with an Alpine guide to a dairy visit.  Follow some of the most beautiful mountain paths on gorgeous walks to your destination, where you can share in the life of master mountain cheese craftsmen.

This is a truly unique opportunity to discover antique traditions and flavours and see how milk is elaborated, or taste a still warm ricotta, cheese, butter, yoghurt, sweets and speck: local products that contain a special, unique harmony of flavours recalling the crisp mountain air, crystalline waters and the scents of our green mountain pastures.

No less than seven dairies have opened their doors to visitors this summer: San Pellegrino, Vael, Contrin, Monzoni, Bocche, Jumela and Sasso Piatto. In fact, each year this initiative enjoys a growing success, particularly among children who are thrilled by their contact with cows, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses. Adults as well are seduced by an intense approach to an atmosphere of genuine flavours. Everyone who participates takes back with them a little piece of the harmonious balance of these intrinsic high territories
