COL MARGHERITA FREERIDE PARK - Passo San Pellegrino is the place for skiing off-piste!

Thursday, 20 October 2011 COL MARGHERITA FREERIDE PARK - Passo San Pellegrino is the place for skiing off-piste!

Starting in the 2011/2012 winter season, Freeride fanatics can enjoy a new attraction at Passo San Pellegrino, the famous tourist resort in Val di Fassa, where they can practice their favourite sport in complete safety.

On the  North face of Col Margherita, in fact, Col Margherita Freeride Park will be opening. It’s a veritable paradise on the snow for anyone seeking the excitement and adventure of skiing off the regular, groomed slopes. “Freeride is quickly becoming a widespread trend; it’s skiing in complete freedom, off-piste, far from the crowded beaten path of regular runs. Put your technical skills to the test and experiment with your style on breathtaking slopes,”  explains Renzo Minella, head of marketing for Passo San Pellegrino. “This project promises to be particularly valuable for tourism, since it improves the choice of offerings and is a fantastic opportunity to enhance and promote the image of the entire Pass as a snow holiday destination. Our objective, then, is to attract Riders with a formative route, using the structures in the Freeride Park, so that we can inform them on how to practice this splendid activity in maximum safety.”

Col Margherita is the ideal place to practice freeride because its high altitude, 2513 m above sea level, favours optimal snow conditions for most of the winter. The route is divided among the Province of Trento, the municipality of Moena, the Moena Police Academy and the Alpine Rescue squad. It will be equipped with  adequate indicators and signs, an ARTVA – proof gate, and qualified personnel able to signal eventual avalanche risk factors, lack of snow or poor visibility - any condition which could interfere with a safe descent and timely emergency response, managed in collaboration with the State Police and Alpine Rescue team.

Safe and easy to access. Once they’ve arrived to Passo San Pellegrino, skiers can easily reach the Col Margherita  Freeride Park with the fast Col Margherita cable lift, and between one run and the next they can stop for a pleasant rest in either the two lodges, Husky Bar and Diametro 64, located respectively at the base and at the top of the impressive lift facility, which features two 100-person capacity cabins.
