Italian National speed skiers train at Passo San Pellegrino

Wednesday, 25 January 2012 Italian National speed skiers train at Passo San Pellegrino

Some of the best athletes from the Italian National Alpine Skiing team had a training session this morning on the snows of Passo San Pellegrino.

Gianluca Rulfi, technical manager of the men's downhill and super G teams put the following athletes through their paces: Werner Heel, Peter Fill, Christof Innerhofer, Dominik Paris and  Florian Eisath, together with the strong giant slalom specialist from Trento Davide Simoncelli and ex- Italian National team member Mirko Deflorian, who now races wearing the colours of Moldavia.

Next weekend the athletes will be in Garmisch for the world Cup tests (downhill on Saturday 28th  and super G on Sunday 29th January).  They refined their technique and physical conditioning on the Le Coste slope in the hamlet of Cima Uomo, which, as always  enjoyed perfect conditions with well packed snow, the ideal surface for maximizing performance and speed.

“Everyone showed great enthusiasm; they tell us that for them it's always great to come back to train at Passo San Pellegrino” explains Renato Donazzolo, who oversees races in the ski area. “Depending on their competitive schedules, we could soon see them on our slopes again."
